Palisade Glacier
Below the Palisade Range near Big Pine, CA | 2021
The Palisade Glacier is flanked by 4 mountains over 14,000 feet elevation, including North Palisade and Mount Sill. During the warmer months there is a turquoise lake at the bottom of the glacier. During the colder months the glacier is mostly hidden under the snow. During the shoulder season you might get lucky like I did on this visit and find a deep blue glacial cave poking out from below the snow.
A few nice campsites lie just a bit lower on this mountain, including Campsite With A View.
