Morro Rock
Morro Bay, CA | 2020
Morro Rock is a 581 ft (117 m) tall volcanic plug that sits in the ocean just off the coast in central California. The obvious beauty of this unique rock attracts surfers, bird watchers, and kayakers, but climbing is strictly prohibited due to nesting falcons and very weak rock that won’t support the weight of a climber. If you visit, keep an eye out for the common squirrels on the south side that you may mistake for statues while they sit motionless and pose for pictures.
